Moy-Chan
We found Moy-Chan at
Tree House Animal Society,
a no-kill shelter in Chicago. She and her brother had been brought in as
kittens with identical eye infections. After they removed their right
eyes, they became (naturally!) distrustful and wouldn't let anybody touch
them. They would play with each other but stayed mostly away from the
other cats.
Then some idiot adopted her brother, but left her behind! She was
disconsolate and listless. When we visited Tree House, we managed to get
her to play with a feather toy, but she kept her distance. Holly, however,
managed to catch her while she was sleeping and give her scratches on the
belly. This magically charmed her and soon she was purring and letting
Holly pick her up and smooch her and everything. Holly decided then and
there to take Moy home.
Moy-Chan likes to chase feather toys around. She can do it for hours.
She also likes sleeping in high places and getting scratches on the belly.
She can do that for hours, too. She always goes to eat food when we turn
off the lights. I think it's an old alleycat reflex.

What a cute little chin! |
Moy is short for Moshe Dayan (1915-1981), a famous Israeli tank
commander. This doesn't imply any Zionist leanings on our part or on
Moy-Chan's part. We just thought it made a cute name, especially
shortened.
