Senior Software Engineer
Architected and implemented four versions of the LiveOps Scheduler, a
web based system for scheduling thousands of work-from-home agents, with the
goals of matching the best agent to the work type and ensuring staffing volume
alignment with forecasted traffic. Responsible for the development of all parts
of the scheduler: MySQL data store, offline data processing jobs which apply
heuristics to forecasting data to optimally allocate work to available agents,
mod_perl and HTML::Mason based web application, AJAX style DHTML front-end,
and a variety of web based related administration tools. As part of the
LiveOps PCI compliance effort, responsible for building the encrypted credit
card data store, implementing an encryption key management system, and
revamping the fulfillment/report delivery system to work with the new system.
Worked on the company's core reporting and analytics system. Designed and
built various agent related applications including training, certification,
and hiring.

Engineer
Architected a mass update tool to do distributed, automated spidering and
content analysis of hundreds of manufacturer websites, with filesystem and
PostgreSQL data stores. Automated internal production workflow with web-based
tools to do document analysis and bulk updating of production databases.
Redesigned user interface and implemented new features for the BuildSite web
application, work involving Perl modules, HTML::Mason, and InterBase schema
changes. UI changes were based on on-site interviews with BuildSite customers.
Wrote usage reporting tools for sales that correlated database queries with
website log analysis. Installed and administered RedHat and Debian Linux
servers. Mentored a support engineer learning basic automation, web spidering,
and source control.

Application Engineer
Designed and built Sisyphus, a reliable and scalable data warehouse
report generation and client push architecture implemented in Perl with an
Oracle data store. Took ownership of customer extranet SLA monitoring,
identifying possible points of failure, determining monitoring requirements,
and writing Perl based Netsaint plug-ins. Built and maintained extranet
authorization layer, a mod_perl interface to an HTTP application server with an
LDAP backend store. Implemented data-driven web personalization applications
for the Tellme consumer service using a proprietary Scheme-based application
server and template system. Additional duties included basic Apache setup and
configuration, and mentoring a graphic designer learning HTML and JavaScript.

Technical Web Producer
Designed and implemented web-based frontends to the Virage video search
engine for high-profile multimedia websites such as the New York Times and
Salon.com. Other duties included adding new functionality to existing sites
and creating client demonstrations using HTML and JavaScript, in addition to
coordinating with search engine software developers on new backend
functionality.

Redesigned the organization and layout of a website housing data
relating to chemical weapons disposal. Duties included writing CGI scripts in
Perl, reorganizing site and page structure to facilitate easier navigation
and data access, creating and editing graphics in Adobe Photoshop and
Illustrator, and coordinating website changes with remote users.

Responsible for doctoring high-resolution photographs in Adobe Photoshop
for an experiment researching implicit memory. The study used eye tracking
technology to assess eye-movement based memory effects. Additional duties
included participating in experimental design and coordinating with a
graphics programmer.
